Primary Purpose

Our organization is currently seeking a highly motivated self-starter to lead the development of our information technology Operations. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Director of Technology, who leads Conuma’s IT/OT (Operational Technology) Department.

The responsibilities of the IT Manager are to shape and manage a high-performing team and a robust IT system to serve our 24x7 mining production environment. Implement and maintain a security policy across the organization.


We are looking for a team player capable of executing a strategic vision for modernizing our IT operation. Fully capable of providing hands-on experience & assistance with help desk support, managing Datacenters, establishing & implementing Security policies, and managing IT/OT applications.

The Job requires a regular presence in the Head office in Tumbler Ridge, BC, and occasionally visits data centers on the mine sites.

Competencies

  • Experience and abilities to manage a mid-size IT Department in a 24x7 environment.
  • Experience in Implementing security policy and access control in the organization.
  • Core skills include project management, leadership, and a breadth of technology experience supporting medium to large businesses.
  • Experienced in managing data centers on multiple sites.
  • Hands on support and management of SQL database and various Applications.
  • Extensive experience managing infrastructure, both physical and virtual (VMWare)
  • Provide consultation on networking solutions (wireless, CISCO Switches & Routers, and firewall) to provide core infrastructure services.
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple projects and delegate tasks to other team members.
  • Abilities to provide coaching, leadership, and guidance for the team.
  • Extensive experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating environments, including Active Directory, integration with Azure, and cloud services-this includes supporting the suite of Office365 applications such as MS Exchange, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Documenting the infrastructure and creating work instructions, workflows, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills


IT Manager duties and responsibilities

  • Using a hands-on approach, manage and improve multiple data centers and application systems.
  • Lead the team of help desk technicians and provide and improve the quality of services.
  • Manage Datacenters, VMWare, Applications running on SQL database, MS Windows operating environments, including Active Directory, integration with Azure, and cloud services-this includes supporting the suite of Office365 applications such as MS Exchange, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Develop and implement policies related to network security, disaster recovery, and IT infrastructure
  • Analyze resource utilization and develop strategies to optimize performance
  • Establish, measure, and define IT goals and maintain an IT roadmap
  • Monitor and analyze the success of IT initiatives and projects and continually develop and evaluate new technologies and tools for the company
  • Daily audit of logs and system health related to all data center systems, backups, switches, routers, wireless systems, firewall, and other security and access logs. Create and provide summary reports to the Director on established frequency.
  • Overseeing and determining time frames for major IT projects, including system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages.


Education and Skill Sets

  • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
  • 3 to 5 years experience in IT management and leadership, managing direct reports & team building, conducting evaluations, and new hire experience.
  • Advance knowledge and experience supporting various operating systems and technologies (MS Exchange, Active Directory, Azure AD, SharePoint, SQL Database)
  • Advance networking experience with CISCO Switches/Routers and Gateways, Firewall.
  • Experience managing enterprise backup and recovery procedures and system performance monitoring. Disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Experience with software applications/tools like Crowstrike, Ironscale, Proof point, CISCO ISE. to protect company information and resources
  • Experience managing on-premises servers, storage area networks (SAN), and network-attached storage (NAS) devices
  • Familiarity with our software platforms, including Microsoft 365 (e.g., Power BI), SharePoint, and Azure Cloud
  • Experience with the network administration (Cisco certification a plus)
  • Experience in ERP (Dynamics 365), workflows, and processes is an asset.
  • Project Management certification is an asset (PMP)
