Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM) is a member of TD Bank Financial Group and is one of Canada's largest investment management firms. As of September 2024, TDAM and its affiliates manage over $450 billion in assets on behalf of pension, insurance, endowment/foundation and corporate clients, as well as high-net worth clients and retail mutual funds, across both active fundamental and quantitative-based solutions. Job Description:

The Private Debt Team originates and executes private debt investments globally for TD Asset Management's Private Debt Funds across the continuum of credit risk. Through unique specialties in power, infrastructure, and real estate as well as private corporate lending and securitization, the Team focuses heavily on credit analysis and structuring. Candidates will benefit from career-enhancing access to specialized asset classes supporting respected deal originators that source opportunities globally and across the spectrum of credit risk.

Job Accountabilities:
  • Prepare detailed, fundamental research on specific investments/projects
  • Undertake detailed due diligence, including:
    • detailed Financial Model review and analysis, requiring exceptional analytical skills
    • detailed documentation review, including credit agreements and key project-specific contracts
    • working with key advisors (legal, technical, insurance) to understand key risks and mitigating factors
  • Preparation and presentation of credit committee reports based on analysis performed above
  • Assist in preparation of marketing materials
  • Track and monitor reporting from private debt issuers

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Up to 5 years of experience in a commercial/corporate banking/private credit lending environment ideally with a credit focus in high yield or leverage finance.
  • Strong financial modelling/analytical skills with a high competence in spreadsheet preparation (Excel) essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with associated proficiencies in PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience in reviewing documentation beneficial, with preference for candidates able to demonstrate their 'attention to detail' with a high aptitude for absorbing legalese
  • Understanding of Private Debt sectors (Power, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Mid-market private credit) preferable
  • A demonstrated record of achievement and leadership skills
  • Ability to multitask in a highly demanding environment is essential
  • Successful candidate should demonstrate critical thinking skills and the ability to solve complex problems

Educational Requirements:
  • Undergraduate/Graduate degree in Finance/Economics/MBA or related field with a strong GPA relative to peers
  • CFA beneficial (or the successful completion of at least level 2 examinations; or the successful completion of at least level 1 examination if the educational background is in a non-finance/economics related field)
