The Credit & Compliance Associate, Indirect Business Financing is responsible for contributing to the profitable growth and quality of the IBF portfolio for moderately complex financial solutions by providing support to the IBF Team regarding the credit adjudication and ongoing compliance process.
This position is located in the Winnipeg Commercial Banking Office. Candidates wishing to locate in Ontario will be considered. Some travel is to be expected. The portfolios have seasonality when tight deadlines and extended working hours can be expected.
-Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Credit & Compliance Support:
-Recording  information from various sources to complete customer reports and records on client profiles;
-Verifying information through investigation, such as credit bureau reports, telephone reference checks;
-Completing review, recommendation and approval on applications within approved credit limits according to current credit policy;
-Preparing AML/Compliance reports, correspondence, and media searches;
-Preparing credit reports, correspondence, collateral and postponement request responses, electronic file set up of GRM reviews;
-Completion and ownership of the PEP process;
-Completing the spreading of financial statements and/ or customer financial information in Moody's Risk Analyst (RA) in an accurate and timely manner as per authorized frequency requirements;
-Keeping up to date of changes in accounting practices, federal/ provincial tax regulations, and other factors as they relate to the interpretation of  financial statements;
-Develop an understanding of the internal reporting and accounting to support the BNS/Nutrien Agency Arrangement.  Ensuring that all relevant correspondence and authorizations are properly stored in the Shared Document Repository (SDR);
-Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions; and
-Completing other various duties as assigned by management.
Provide superior customer service by:
-Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of, IBF and Bank compliance policies and procedures;
-Developing and maintaining a sound knowledge of the programs offered;
-Maintaining a good working relationship with IBF third party partners and all internal partners;
-Responding promptly and effectively to requests concerns from customers, IBF third party partners, team members and internal partners;
-Providing support as required for compliance, credit, client-facing and/ or fulfillment activities, and other analysis and deliverables;
-Creating and executing all ad hoc report requests received from the IBF senior leadership team;
-Transcribing information from applications and submissions to various documents/ submissions; and
-Gathering documentation and financial information required to support internal and external stakeholder requirement packages.
Contribute to the Department's productivity and service and the Bank's financial and non-financial objectives by:
-Organizing work to maximize productivity;
-Actively identifying and participating with recommendations/ ideas for process and systems improvements;
-Providing other support as required to IBF's senior leadership team for compliance, AML, credit, client-facing and/or fulfillment activities, and other analysis and deliverables;
-Understanding how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;
-Completing all function-specific documentation accurately as per Bank standards in order to protect both the organization and the customer;
-Completing due diligence on customer applications;
-Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct; and
-Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
Education/Experience/Other Information
The Credit & Compliance Associate must have financial analysis, good credit judgement, keen attention to detail and a good knowledge of the Bank's lending policies, practices and procedures. Critical attention to detail is necessary for success on the compliance aspect of this role.
He/she will have interaction with clients and internal partners by gathering information and responding to internal inquiries. They must have strong organizational skills to monitor portfolio requirements, collect and assimilate large volumes of information from various sources and concisely populate the information into a credit or compliance or operational communication.
Bachelor of Commerce or Business Degree with at least 3 years of related work experience.
Functional competencies:
•             Well organized and ability to multi-task
•             Strong organizational skills to monitor portfolio requirements, collect and assimilate large volumes of information
•             Intermediate credit skills - familiarity with drafting credit requests, spreading financial statements, assessing risk, and drawing conclusions.
•             Advanced attention to detail required for compliance reviews and reporting
•             Knowledge of the agriculture industry considered an asset
•             Knowledge or experience with Risk Analysis considered an asset
•             Good communication skills (oral and written)
•             Advanced Microsoft Office skills
•             Interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers and internal partners
•             Good knowledge of the Bank's commercial products and services
•             Knowledge of Bank regulations
•             Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
