GI UW Strategy oversees the overall underwriting strategy of general insurance products, ensuring alignment with TD Insurance's business objectives while adhering to jurisdictional regulations. Underwriting is a determining component of our home and auto insurance products that cater to direct and affinity markets.

Reporting to the UW Strategy Senior Manager, the Manager will lead the team in the execution of underwriting strategies and underwriting changes that help drive financial results while adhering to TDI's risk appetite.

Responsibilities
  • Define and lead underwriting strategies aligned with TDI P&L, ensuring clear prioritization, measurable outcomes, and alignment across lines of business
  • Drive the optimization and transformation of underwriting processes, with a strong focus on increasing straight-through processing, reducing manual work, and enhancing decision quality through automation and analytics
  • Lead relationships with internal and external stakeholders fostering strong partnerships
  • Provide strategic guidance to business partners on underwriting-related topics, influencing decisions and ensuring alignment with underwriting strategy
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, providing clear direction, performance feedback, and growth opportunities while fostering a high-performing and accountable team environment
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement within the team, driving the development and adoption of new capabilities to enhance underwriting effectiveness and support evolving business objectives

Job Requirements
  • 7 years of experience in an Actuarial function (Property & Casualty)
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society
  • Previous leadership (with direct reports)
  • achelor Degree in Actuarial Science or related field
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Highly adaptable for having discussions with different stakeholders in terms of expertise, training and hierarchical position.
  • Ability to work effectively during periods of stress and to make difficult decisions.
  • Autonomous and perseverant; shows initiative and creativity in his/her work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
