  • Summary:
    The New Truck Sales Consultant will be responsible for selling new trucks while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction. This position also evaluates trucks proposed for purchase, repossession, or trade-in and recommends purchase price and terms to General Manager. Further responsibilities include ensuring acquired vehicles are prepared for front line readiness, effectively and efficiently.

    Sales Processes:
    • Provides thorough product information and demonstration to all prospects.
    • Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. Suggests alternative vehicles if necessary.
    • Offers test drives to all qualified prospects. Follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customer before test drive begins.
    • Exhibits a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
    • Knows and understands equity and values, and is able to explain depreciation to the customer.
    • Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies.
    • Prepares sold units for customer delivery (i.e., ensures units are clean, MVI Certification completed, and ensures all features are operational) prior to customer arrival.
    • Delivers vehicles to customers using walk-around presentation techniques, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
    • Follows up on all post-delivery items and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met.
    • Introduces customers to service and parts department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership's service department.
    • Schedules first service appointment.
    • Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction
    • Maintains a prospect development and follow-up system.
    • Maintains a professional business appearance.
    • Analyzes trucks presented for purchase, trade-in, and repossession. Determines values based on blue book guide, market conditions, current auction results, and current inventory movement.
    • Knows and understands the federal, provincial/state and local laws which govern commercial truck sales.
    • Establishes planning and productivity and personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity, and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
    • Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month, and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
    • Attends meetings as required.
    • Becomes familiar with and complies with the company's Health & Safety Manual.
  • Requirements:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) essential
    • Post-secondary education in sales and marketing preferred
    • Medium and heavy duty truck sales experience preferred
    • Automotive sales experience is an asset
    • Three years related experience and/or training
    • Familiarity with advertising mediums, terms, success rates, etc.
    • Valid Driver's Licence (Class 3 preferred, Class 1 is an asset)
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 kg or 50 lbs and carry short distances
    • Must be able to climb into and out of commercial transport vehicles
    • Excellent sales skills, preferably in a related field
    • Ability to negotiate is essential
