A career in our Personal Tax Compliance practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. You'll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.
Our team helps individuals and families comply with US Federal and State tax filing rules. You'll focus on tax policy changes related to tax returns, US and international tax reporting, tax payments and Internal Revenue Service communications.Responsibilities
As a Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and aboveBe involved in the financial management of clientsBe actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clientsContribute to the development of your own and team's technical acumenDevelop strategies to solve complex technical challengesAssist in the management and delivering of large projectsTrain, coach, and supervise staffKeep up to date with local and national business and economic issuesContinue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand
Additionally, you will be responsible for developing internal and external relationships to deliver on our brand promise and build our presence in the market. You will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team by seeking feedback from both clients and team members, coaching more junior staff on their performance and leading by example.
Other responsibilities include: Managing interpersonal relations and building the morale of the team
Reviewing completed financial statements and related notes
Reviewing personal and corporate tax returns and other information returns and related correspondence
Providing assistance to clients with payroll, GST and other related compliance
Ensuring that all work is completed and documented in accordance with our prescribed standards and billed in a timely manner
Developing the knowledge of junior team members by sharing best practices, providing coaching and instructing of courses
Continuously communicating with the Partners with respect to engagement progress
Maintaining existing client relationship and developing other relationships in the community
Requirements: Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field
Canadian CPA designation or equivalent
5+ years of relevant experience in public accounting
Strong understanding of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises.
Strong knowledge in Canadian personal and corporate income taxes for private companies.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Quickbooks, Simply Accounting, Google, Caseware and Tax Prep an asset.
Excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude and an ability to work effectively under pressure are desirable.
Highly developed prioritization and project management skills and highly efficient at multitasking with a high attention to detail.
