Production Supervisor

On behalf of our client, AGI – Westfield, we are searching for a driven and skilled Production Supervisor to join their manufacturing team located in Rosenort, Manitoba.   Over the last 60 years, Westfield has developed and refined the finest grain augers available. As a result, Westfield has grown to be the number one portable grain auger manufacturer in North America. 

 

Reporting to the Assistant Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for creating a culture of engagement within and between the plant teams to directly impact and consistently meet plant objectives and deliverables.  We are seeking an individual who have the experience within manufacturing, agriculture or industrial environment along with a motivated “go-getter” attitude to lead a strong team. This person is expected to be a seasoned hands-on leader with an open-door policy, who creates a family-oriented environment and builds genuine relationship with the team to understand each of their success.

 

The main responsibilities of the Production Supervisor are to ensure all Safety Standards will be followed, coordinates scheduling of crews and equipment. He/she must ensure that the production teams work collaboratively in the decision-making processes and that the decisions are in alignment with the plant goals and objectives.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe work site by ensuring that employees follow safe work procedures, and that all company, and Work Safe regulations are followed.
  • Provide leadership and coaching for all employees in the areas of safety, quality and productivity.
  • Monitor the activities of Lead Hands and other employees to ensure all are working in a productive manner.
  • Communicate safety and production concerns with Lead Hands as they arise and assist them in overcoming obstacles
  • Review productions plan and ensure all resources, machines and personnel, are being utilized effectively
  • Manage team members time card use, including attendance, vacation time and overtime
  • Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Ensure training and development of team members are performed effectively and in accordance with in-house related production and quality procedures
  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts to facilitate the implementation of LEAN manufacturing
  • Conduct performance reviews of team members
  • Lead the departmental production team to ensure overall company goals are met
  • Implement cost-effective procedures and process improvements for best practices
  • Ensure compliance with all safety legislation and procedures
  • Inventory Management and Process Control

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of direct supervisory experience in Manufacturing, Agriculture, Mechanical or Industrial industries
  • Innovative, ability to identify and implement new processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the team and project.
  • Results-oriented with strong organizational, planning, coordination and leadership skills
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing process flow
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, ability to think on your feet, and "outside the box"
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office products and other computerized applications
  • Hands-on mentality and good level of common sense
  • Strong interpersonal skill and the ability to build a strong relationship with a wide range of individuals
  • Enthusiasm for taking on new challenges and initiatives
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc.
