Job summary
Amazon SageMaker is looking for a Sr SDE for its Inference Experience Team. You will be responsible for building and operating services that will revolutionize how customers build, deploy and operate their ML models on SageMaker. The team owns the charter of providing best inference experience in the world; the team will provide superior inference experience by building value added ML capabilities like Model Monitoring, helping customers host cost efficient yet performant models and building state of the art interactive user experience among other things.

You will be working in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary team of engineers and researchers who are leaders in the field. You will take on challenging problems, distill real requirements, and then deliver solutions that either leverage existing academic and industrial research, or utilize your own out-of-the-box pragmatic thinking. In addition to coming up with novel solutions and prototypes, you will deliver these to production in customer facing products.

A successful candidate will have an established background in developing distributed systems, passion for innovation, strong technical ability, great communication skills, and motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Key job responsibilities
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing business and functional requirements, and translate requirements into technical specifications for robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
  • Engage with Product Managers, ML Researchers, Customers
  • Serve as technical lead on complex projects using best practice engineering standards, and hire/mentor junior development engineers
  • - You'll be well supported with by a group with deep technical chops, including multiple senior and principal engineers.


  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team


Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers•
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations•
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project•
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
Deep hands-on technical expertise in: large scale systems engineering; building and operating complex distributed systems
Experience with Machine Learning, data mining, and/or statistical analysis tools such as R and MATLAB is a plus•
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering
