Tax Accounting Lead

British Columbia Alberta Remote
Full Time
Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Tax Professional who is seeking a friendly corporate culture, work/life balance, job stability, and work-from-home flexibility. Canadian and US tax work. Very large, complex, multi-entity, and multi-national private company. 1 direct report. Open to candidates based in BC or Alberta. Potential for a reduced work schedule for the right candidate.

Who- the Company:
Our client is a very well-established and successful company with operations across North America, over 1500 employees, 10+ legal entities, 30+ operating sites across Canada and the US, etc. They have a great reputation among their happy customers and partners. The 25+ person accounting & finance team is collaborative and friendly, and the leaders promote productive workdays with plenty of communication and organization to truly limit unnecessary overtime.

Work remote and/or work from home. Our client is considering candidates based in BC or Alberta who have a great home office set-up, with slight preference for someone based in Greater Vancouver as that way the Tax Accounting Lead could participate in social events, team meetings, philanthropy, etc.
If living in Greater Vancouver, the Tax Accounting Lead is welcome to work from the office 1 to 5 days a week. The company is headquartered in a beautiful downtown Vancouver skyscraper, very close to transit (SkyTrain, Canada Line, buses, etc.). Please note that this company has Covid-19 policies and protocols in place.

What- the Role:
Our client is seeking a new Tax Accounting Lead who will report into the Corporate Controller and who will have 1 direct report. This is a diversified tax role involving both US and Canadian tax… income tax, sales tax, property tax… tax provisions, tax compliance, tax planning, transfer pricing, etc.
This is currently envisioned as a permanent full-time role, but for the right candidate there is opportunity to consider a reduced work schedule of 3 or 4 days a week (i.e. the candidate would need to be more senior and efficient, and able to accomplish in 3 or 4 days what someone else may only be able to accomplish in 5 days). In this case, the salary would be pro-rated based on work schedule. Swim Recruiting will provide interested candidates with a thorough job description.

Who- the Candidate:
We are seeking candidates with at least 5 years and preferably 10 to 20 years of progressive tax experience- US and Canadian. Training in a public practice firm is highly preferred. The more complex the tax experience, the better!
Candidates should have experience with tax compliance, tax returns, and tax provisions for large, complex, multi-entity companies (in-house or clients), preferably with operations across Canada and the US. Proficiency in Excel is required, and experience with an ERP and other financial systems is highly preferred. Experience with transfer pricing and strategic tax planning is definitely an asset but not required for a quick learner.

How Much:
Very competitive base salary commensurate with level of experience. Salary will be pro-rated if the Tax Accounting Lead is on a reduced work schedule. This company also provides a very generous profit-sharing program, an RRSP match, and health benefits from Day 1. Please discuss compensation further with Swim Recruiting.
