  • Summary:
    The Truck Fleet Sales Consultant will be responsible for selling the Kenworth Heavy Duty product line to dedicated Fleet accounts while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, market share, volume, and customer satisfaction. This position offers our parts and shop services to customers; and evaluates trucks proposed for purchase, repossession, or trade-in and recommends purchase price and terms to the Sales Manager.

    Sales Process:
    • Greets and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or sales lot.
    • Understands the terminology of the commercial truck business and keeps abreast of changes in product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories, etc.
    • Provides thorough product information and demonstration to all prospects.
    • Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. Suggests alternative vehicles if necessary.
    • Offers test drives to all qualified prospects. Follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customer before test drive begins.
    • Exhibits a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
    • Knows and understands equity and values, and is able to explain depreciation to the customer.
    • Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies.

    Delivery and Customer Relations:
    • Prepares sold units for customer deliver
    • Delivers vehicles to customers using walk-around presentation techniques, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
    • Informs customers of standard factory warranty, available extended warranties and costs associated with them.
    • Prepares thoroughly for presentation of sales proposals.
    • Establishes long-term relationships with customers in designated territory through phone, referral, mail, email and in-person cold calling.
    • Becomes a welcomed visitor in the customer's place of business by providing a value-added experience with regular customer visits.
    • Follows up on all post-delivery items and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met.
    • Introduces customers to service and parts department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership's service department.
    • Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
    • Maintains a prospect development and follow-up system.

    Vehicle Purchase and Reconditioning:
    • Analyzes trucks presented for purchase, trade-in, and repossession. Determines values based on blue book guide, market conditions, current auction results, and current inventory movement.
    • Monitors customer inventories, auctions, websites, and wholesalers for purchase opportunities.
    • Helps with the vehicle inspection process.
    • Knows and understands the federal, provincial, and local laws which govern commercial truck sales

    Planning and Productivity:
    • Works closely with Sales Manager to devise a strategic plan to:
      • Establish personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity.
      • Review and analyze actions at the end of each month and year to determine how to better utilize time and marketing efforts effectively.
    • Maintains sales training as established by Sales Manager.
    • Helps to keep the truck sales department neat and clean.
  • Requirements:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) essential
    • Post-secondary education in sales and marketing preferred
    • Medium and heavy duty truck sales/leasing experience preferred
    • Automotive sales experience is an asset
    • Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Familiarity with advertising mediums, terms, success rates, etc.
    • Fluency in other languages is an asset
    • Valid Driver's License (Commercial Truck license preferred)
    • Valid Passport (for training and customer factory visits)
    • Excellent sales skills, preferably in a related field
    • Ability to negotiate is essential
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 kg or 50 lbs and carry short distances
    • Must be able to climb into and out of commercial transport vehicles
    • Must be able to operate a keyboard and other common office equipment
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
