As a Manager in our Tax practice, you will work closely with KPMG Partners to help private businesses and their owners navigate growth, transactions, reorganizations, and succession. You will lead client engagements, develop practical tax planning strategies, and guide their implementation, from evaluating alternatives to coordinating with clients and their professional advisers.

This role offers a broad scope of work across tax planning, corporate reorganizations, transaction tax, and related compliance and reporting. You will deepen your technical expertise, build trusted client relationships, and develop your leadership skills while helping others grow into strong, well-rounded tax professionals.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies involving corporate reorganizations, business succession, ownership transitions, and other significant business decisions
  • Manage the tax aspects of acquisitions, divestitures, and other transactions, including research, analysis, modelling, and implementation
  • Review tax research, technical memoranda, tax models, instruction letters to legal counsel, and client reporting letters, providing clear direction and constructive feedback
  • Present tax planning alternatives and recommendations to clients, explaining technical matters clearly and connecting advice to their business objectives
  • Coordinate with clients, legal counsel, and other advisers to implement tax plans and complete transactions
  • Oversee related tax compliance and reporting engagements, reviewing deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with the client's tax planning
  • Manage engagement teams, budgets, timelines, and competing priorities to deliver high-quality work
  • Coach and mentor team members, providing meaningful opportunities to build technical skills, exercise judgment, and take on greater responsibility
  • Build and maintain client relationships, identify opportunities to help clients, and contribute to the growth of the practice
What you bring to the role
  • A minimum of three years of experience specializing in tax in a public accounting firm
  • A professional accounting designation
  • Completion, or near completion, of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience developing tax advice for private businesses and their owners
  • An interest in broadening your experience across tax planning, corporate reorganizations, and transactions
  • The ability to translate complex tax issues into practical recommendations and communicate them clearly to clients and colleagues
  • Strong people management and coaching skills, with a commitment to developing others
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to delegate effectively and manage competing demands
  • Sound professional judgment, attention to quality, and accountability for delivering work that meets client needs
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to lead discussions, address challenging questions, and work through complex issues
  • A commitment to understanding clients' businesses and building lasting relationships
  • Initiative, curiosity, and a desire to grow as a technical adviser, people leader, and contributor to the practice
