The Opportunity:
WSP's Environmental Health and Safety Team in Ontario is growing! We are looking for a strong Environmental, Health and Safety Professional to shape and develop our existing Environmental, Health and Safety practice. You will serve as a senior leader and subject matter expert, responsible for shaping the strategic direction of WSP's environmental, health and safety services across Ontario and beyond. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a track record of delivering complex, high-impact projects. You will lead multidisciplinary project teams, advise executive leadership, and represent WSP externally in client engagements, industry forums, and strategic partnerships.

What you can expect to do here:
Strategic & Technical Leadership
- Lead and oversee EHS projects including audits, safety management systems, policy development, and advisory services.
- Set technical direction for EHS services, driving innovation, standards, and methodologies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, internal teams, and executive leadership on EHS strategy and compliance.
- Ensure quality, compliance, and profitability across a diverse project portfolio.
- Mentor and develop technical staff, contributing to succession planning and team growth.
- Represent WSP in industry forums, technical committees, and client engagements.
- Advance thought leadership through publications, conferences, and strategic initiatives.
- Drive growth as a seller/doer - lead proposals, manage key pursuits, and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify new opportunities and contribute to win strategies and go/no-go decisions.
- Collaborate across geographies and business lines to expand reach and service offerings.
- Lead business development strategy, ensuring accountability and pipeline forecasting.
- Elevate WSP's visibility through knowledge sharing and innovation at client engagements.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on talent, innovation, and excellence.
- Inspire teams to deliver creative, high-quality solutions throughout project lifecycles.
- Build cross-sector partnerships to increase collaboration and work share.
- Manage risk across pursuits and projects, including contract and fee reviews.
- Support talent attraction, engagement, and retention across the team.
- Strengthen employee connection to leadership through clear communication and vision sharing.
- Champion health and safety, ensuring adherence to policies and WSP's Life Saving Rules.
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, or related field; Master's preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CRSP, CHSC, CSP, or CSO.
Experience
- 20+ years in EHS consulting, with 10+ in senior leadership roles.
- Extensive experience in Ontario and Atlantic Canada markets, including leading proposals and pursuits.
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practices, ISO 14001/45001 systems, and relevant legislation.
- Experience in industrial/manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.
- Proven ability to apply technical insight to solve client challenges.
Leadership & Strategic Impact
- Track record of leading complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Skilled in business development, client management, and strategic planning.
- Deep understanding of the EHS consulting market and industry relationships.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation and growth.
Communication & Collaboration
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Active in professional associations and industry networks.
- Experience with RFPs, EOIs, and SOQs.
- Eligible for federal security clearance.
