Job Description
You want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it. We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers. With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science-based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions. We are pathfinders and impact makers. We are Visioneers. We are WSP.
The Opportunity
Build the Future with Us - This is your chance to be part of a team that's shaping critical infrastructure, transportation, and community projects across the Prairies and Canada's North. In this Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training role with our Ground Engineering team, you'll support field investigations, analysis, and design on a wide range of projects, helping deliver practical, resilient solutions for clients and communities.
Your Impact
- Contribute to planning and executing geotechnical field investigations, including boreholes, test pits, and in-situ testing to support transportation, municipal, industrial, and environmental projects.
- Assist in interpreting soil, rock, and groundwater conditions and help translate findings into clear, practical design recommendations.
- Support the development of geotechnical design solutions for foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining structures, and buried infrastructure that help keep people and communities safe.
- Prepare concise, data-driven technical memoranda and reports that inform client decisions on scope, schedule, and investment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (environmental, structural, transportation, water, and more) to integrate ground engineering into larger project designs.
- Help advance sustainable design practices by considering constructability, materials, and long-term performance in geotechnical solutions.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions, bringing an EIT perspective and curiosity to every challenge.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- You have a degree in civil, geological, or geotechnical engineering and are registered, or eligible to register, as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a Canadian engineering association.
- You've started building hands-on experience in geotechnical or ground engineering through co-op, internship, or early-career project work.
- You are comfortable supporting work both in the field and in the office and are willing to travel to sites across the Prairies and the North as project needs arise.
- You enjoy working with data - from logs and lab results to monitoring records - and using it to support practical recommendations.
- You are keen to grow your skills with geotechnical tools and software (for example, analysis, modeling, or drafting platforms) and to learn from senior mentors.
- You care about doing work that matters - to clients, communities, and the environment - and you bring a collaborative, safety-focused mindset to every project.
