The Opportunity:

WSP's Environmental Health and Safety Team in Ontario is growing! We are looking for a strong Occupational Hygienist to shape and develop our existing Environmental, Health and Safety practice. You will serve as a senior leader and subject matter expert, responsible for shaping the strategic direction of WSP's environmental, health and safety services across Ontario and beyond. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a track record of delivering complex, high-impact projects. You will lead multidisciplinary project teams, advise executive leadership, and represent WSP externally in client engagements, industry forums, and strategic partnerships.

What you can expect to do here:
Strategic & Technical Leadership
  • Lead occupational hygiene, hazardous materials, and health & safety projects with strategic oversight.
  • Develop and implement methodologies, standards, and innovation initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, internal teams, and executive leadership.
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and profitability across a portfolio of projects.
  • Mentor technical staff and support talent development.
  • Represent WSP in industry associations and technical committees.
  • Contribute to thought leadership through publications and conferences.
Business Growth & Client Engagement
  • Drive business development while leading project execution as a seller/doer.
  • Build and manage client relationships, identify opportunities, and lead proposals.
  • Support strategic pursuits and increase WSP's visibility through knowledge sharing.
  • Lead sales strategy and hold teams accountable for growth.
  • Collaborate across geographies and business lines to expand reach.
  • Maintain and forecast the opportunity pipeline.
Project & People Management
  • Promote a high-performance culture focused on innovation and excellence.
  • Inspire and guide teams through pursuit and project delivery stages.
  • Foster cross-sector collaboration and grow internal partnerships.
  • Manage project risk, including contract and fee reviews.
  • Support talent attraction, engagement, and retention.
  • Strengthen employee connectedness through leadership visibility.
  • Champion health and safety across all projects.
What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Education & Credentials: Bachelor's in Science or Engineering (Master's preferred); ROH or CIH designation required.
  • Experience: 20+ years in occupational hygiene, with 10+ in senior leadership. Deep knowledge of Ontario and Atlantic Canada markets.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong grasp of industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, and health & safety regulations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, drive strategy, and grow business. Trusted advisor with strong client relationships.
  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Other: Active in professional associations; able to obtain federal security clearance.
