What you can expect to do here:
  • Leading terrestrial (i.e., wildlife, vegetation, and/or wetland) components for various projects;
  • Coordinating and organizing field crews, ensuring appropriate field program execution and reporting;
  • Conducting general and species-specific wildlife surveys, including for Species at Risk;
  • Conducting vegetation surveys;
  • Conducting wetland evaluations;
  • Analyze, evaluate and interpret data while providing results within the scope and objective(s) of a specific project;
  • Prepare baseline, assessments and other technical reports;
  • Prepare terrestrial components (i.e., wildlife, vegetation, and/or wetland) of proposals;
  • Collaborate with professionals across multidisciplinary projects;
  • Implement corporate and client safety programs; and
  • Mentor junior staff.
What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Education: B.Sc. in appropriate discipline and/or advanced degree;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Strong data analysis skills;
  • Strong wildlife and vegetation identification skills;
  • Ability to identify wildlife and wildlife habitat;
  • A good understanding of the regulatory requirements for terrestrial assessments at both the provincial and federal level;
  • Field experience in wildlife, vegetation, and/or wetland surveys (soils survey experience wu;
  • Willingness to travel for field work, work flexible hours including field work under a variety of conditions, and shift work.
  • A person with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
  • Experienced in consulting sector;
  • Experience supervising junior staff and managing environmental projects;
  • Experience designing environmental studies; and
  • Experience in multiple terrestrial disciplines (e.g., wildlife, vegetation, and wetlands).
